At Nichol McKay custom metal fabrications begin with a thorough review of customer requirements. Written requisitions of the custom metal fabrication project are sent to our
estimating department. A detailed quotation is then undertaken.
Upon acceptance of the quote the part is then passed to our
engineering
department who prepare the CNC packages, drawings and any special instructions to ensure smooth and efficient routing through the plant floor. The required raw material is ordered according to manufacturing requirements and customer delivery schedules.
When the material is received it is cut by our
laser,
profile burning or
punch departments depending upon the requirements. If required the cut part can then be processed in our
machining
centre. Frequently the next operation will be to bend the material on one of our numerous
brake
presses.
For larger more complex parts the next step in the process will be to fit and tack weld various components together, followed by welding out in our
manual
welding or
robotic welding departments.
The product can then be prepared for paint using our automated
shot blaster then sent to our paint department where it can either be painted using
wet paint or
powder
coating. Frequently individual painted parts are assembled into a complete unit before being carefully packed and despatched using our fleet of delivery vehicles according to the customer's delivery schedule.
